The Senate on Thursday confirmed the President,, FCT Customary Court of Appeal following his nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senate leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, moved a motion through order 43 to suspend rules of the plenary to give way for confirmation of Honourable Justice Musa Abubakar Sadiq.
Lawan said, it became imperative given that Senate was sitting for the last time in the 8th National Assembly.
“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, we all know that we are sitting for the last time and in the interest of the nation, I want to move a motion that the Senate consider the screening of the nominee of Mr. President.”
Lawan urged the Senate President to dissolve plenary into Committee of the whole to enable it confirm Justice Musa Abubakar Sadiq.
After the motion was seconded by Senator Chukwuka Utazi representing Enugu North Senatorial district, he was led into the Chambers by the Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang.
In his address, Justice Musa Abubakar Sadiq explained that he had legal experiences from the Bar and Bench, hence, if confirmed, he would administer justice at the FCT Customary Court of Appeal accordingly.
After lawmakers took turns to speak, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu adopted a motion confirming him as the President, FCT Customary Court of Appeal.
