Mob beats suspected phone thief in Delta community

A suspected phone thief has been beaten to stupor by a mob in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred along Uloho Avenue in the metropolis after the suspect, identified simply as Brown, reportedly snatched a mobile device from his victim and eloped on a motorcycle.

It was, however, gathered that luck ran against the fleeing suspect when he was apprehended by the aggrieved mob, after he had a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle at Daniel Mukoro Street along Uloho Avenue.

Speaking on the incident, one of the witnesses said, “The suspect snatched a bag from a woman containing her mobile phone and when she raised an alarm, people in the area gave the suspect a hot chase and he was eventually arrested when he had an head-on collision with a vehicle coming toward his direction.”

The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
