Roberto Calenda, agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, has declared that his client will remain in the Serie A and there was no deal with Manchester United.
Calenda said this on his Twitter handle on Friday evening amidst speculation that a move to Manchester United this summer was in the offing.
The PUNCH reports that the speculation may have risen after reports that Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, proposed a deal for the Red Devils to sign the Nigerian striker, while the Portuguese moves to Napoli on loan.
Osimhen’s agent added that there were no ongoing negotiations with Manchester United noting that the Super Eagles striker was happy to be in the Champions League.
“No negotiations in progress, no swap deals. Victor Osimhen is a Napoli player and wants to play the Champions League with Napoli,” Calenda wrote.
The reported swap deal might have fallen through because Manchester United are not in the Champions League, which the 23-year-old is keenly interested in contesting.
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo, on the other hand, is also keenly interested in playing Champions League football this season, a tournament in which he is the record highest goalscorer.
The former Real Madrid talisman has been linked to his boyhood club Sporting Lisbon, who will be contesting in the Champions League.
