Jigawa State Police Command has advised motorists plying Babuwawa-Hantsu-Gujungu road to seek other alternative roads following the collapse of the bridge along the road in the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Adam, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Sunday.
He called on motorists, especially drivers of articulated vehicles (trailers, tankers etc) to seek alternative routes due to the collapse of the bridge as a result of intermittent downpours being witnessed in the state.
“The directive becomes necessary because today (Sunday) 11th September 2022, happens to be a Gujungu market day.”
He enjoined road users to exercise patience and avoid overloading to protect the loss of lives and property.
“Parents and guardians should warn their wards against swimming in rivers/ streams/ ponds.”, the statement added.
Of recent a number of people have lost their lives as a result of flooding, boat/canoe capsizing or drowning in rivers/ponds due to the intermittent downpour being experienced in some parts of Kano and Jigawa states.
