Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri made Premier League history on Sunday as he became the youngest ever player in the English top-flight.
The young midfielder 15 years and 181 days old.
Nwaneri broke Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott previous record who appeared for Fulham aged 16 years and 30 days.
He also set a new landmark, breaking Cesc Fabregas’ record for the youngest Arsenal player in any competition.
Here are a few things to know about the EPL’s youngest player:
1 – Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri was born on March 21, 2007 to Nigerian parents.
2 – He joined Arsenal at nine years old.
3 – By the age of 14, he was already playing for Arsenal’s under-18 side.
4 – Nwaneri started the 2022–23 season playing for Arsenal under-18s but, because of his form, he was progressed up to the Arsenal under-21s.
5 – He joined the Arsenal first team for training in September.
6 – He made his Premier League debut against Brentford in September 2022, thereby becoming the youngest player to ever appear in the Premier League – breaking the record previously held by Harvey Elliott, who appeared in the competition for Fulham aged 16 years, 30 days.
7 – He also broke the all-time English top-flight record, held since August 1964 by former Sunderland goalkeeper Derek Forster, by four days.
8 – Nwaneri also became Arsenal’s youngest ever player in any competition, breaking the previous record of 16 years, 177 days set by Cesc Fàbregas in the 2003–04 Football League Cup.
