The suspect, who was arrested after he attacked and killed his 23-year-old lover, Ummakulsum Sani Buhari, in her parents’ house at Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, on Friday night, September 16, said he did it because she betrayed him.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect, aged 47, committed the crime after scaling the fence of the deceased residence to gain access, where he stabbed her multiple times until she gave up the ghost.
The Chinese man alleged that the deceased, Ummu had promised to marry him, but later reneged on that promise after he had spent so much on her.
The suspect further stated that he was enraged by her betrayal and decided to attack and kill the deceased at her residence.
Deng has since been transferred to the state headquarters at Bompai for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, late Ummu has been laid to rest on Saturday morning in Kano according to Islamic rite.
