The Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Sanusi Ma’aji has fixed October 4, 2022, for the arraignment of a Chinese, Geng Quangrong, who allegedly killed his ex-lover, Ummulkhuksum Buhari.
The PUNCH reported that Quanrong, 47, a Chinese, who resides in Nassarawa GRA Quarters Kano, went to the residence of Ummukulsum, 23, on Saturday night, September 16, 2022, and stabbed her to death. When the case resumed on Thursday for arraignment, Quarong sought an adjournment to enable him to contact his counsel to represent him.
In his response, the Kano State Attorney General, Musa Lawan, did not object to the defendant’s prayer to adjourn the matter.
Lawan said, “Obviously this case will not go on today without counsel standing for the defendant. In these circumstances, we apply for a short adjournment to enable the defendant to get a lawyer.”
Consequently, Justice Ma’aji adjourned the case to October 4, 2022.
