The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was on Friday hosted by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
This is coming two days after the kick-off of the 2023 election campaigns by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.
Saturday PUNCH reports that Obi met Wike on June 22 in Port Harcourt in a closed-door meeting that lasted for hours at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The meeting is coming amid the internal crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
Wike had accused that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, of betrayal and asked the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign.
Obi and Wike shared handshakes and warmth in pictures in front of Wike’s residence.
The photos were shared by Wike on his verified Facebook and Twitter pages.
Wike wrote, “It was nice hosting my brother @PeterObi once again.”
Details of their meeting were yet to be known as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, Obi also visited the Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Friday.
Obi wrote on his verified Twitter page, @PeterObi, “I was at Ibadan, and I visited my brother and friend, HE @seyiamakinde, the Governor of Oyo State as part of my consultations ahead of the 2023 general elections. We had very frank and constructive discussions.”
