Contrary to earlier reports that six persons were killed in a cult clash in the Obudu community of Cross River, the states police command has confirmed that only two lives were lost.
The Obudu cult clash occurred between Monday and Tuesday.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident and said two persons were killed when rival cultists clashed.
She said, “There was cult activity in Obudu and two persons were killed. Some suffered machete cuts. We are investigating the incident.”
Initial reports had it that six persons were killed following disagreement over a motorcycle allegedly stolen by a member of a rival cult group.
It was alleged that cult activities are rampant in the area.
