The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday suspended some members of the party believed to be supporters of an ex-governorship aspirant on it platform, Mr. Dotun Babayemi.
But one of those suspended, Mr. Adelani Ajanaku, during an interview with Saturday PUNCH, said the suspended members were not given query or contacted before their suspension was announced.
Those suspended were all from Babayemi’s Ayedaade Local Government Area, and they were listed in a statement signed by the party’s caretaker chairman for the state, Dr Adekunle Akindele.
The affected members are Mayowa Adegboye, Chief Segun Odekunmi, Munirudeen Adekunle, Ajayi Solomon, Adelani Ajanaku, Kamorudeen Elegunmeje, Kehinde Adesiyan and Aliyu Adeyanju.
The party further said the affected members were suspended by their respective wards and local government area, adding that the state leadership only approved the action of the ward and LG executives.
It reads in parts, “The Osun State Caretaker Committee of the PDP hereby notifies members of the public that the underlisted party members from Ayedaade Local Government Area have been suspended by their respective wards in the local government for their anti-party activities, amongst others, and the said suspension, having been ratified by the Caretaker Committee of our great party for the local government, the state caretaker committee hereby approved of same.
“Towards this end, members of the public are hereby cautioned from dealing with the said suspended members or transacting any business with them as members of the PDP while their suspension lasts and while further actions are being awaited as regards their suspension.”
But Ajanaku, who said official response to the suspension, would be given whenever Babayemi was back to the state, added, “I am waiting for my principal to return. I want to keep silent until when Dotun (Babayemi) comes back. It is better to have a measured reaction such that whatever he or any other person says, we will have a coordinated response.”
