Newly composed Interim Management Committee for the Nigeria Professional Football League will be inaugurated on Friday, The PUNCH reports.
President, Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, will inaugurate the committee as composed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare.
In a press statement announcing the composition of the IMC, the sports ministry stated that the move was “in line with the 10-year Football Masterplan as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari towards the revitalisation of the domestic league” adding that the IMC would be in place to “oversee the affairs of the league until a proper professional league board is put in place statutorily.”
The inauguration will take place at the NFF Conference Room inside the NFF Secretariat, Abuja on Friday by 11am.
The 15-man IMC has as its Chairman, the former Director-General of the Nigeria Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye.
He will be deputised by Chairman, Akwa United FC, Paul Bassey, while the CEO of the defunct League Management Committee, Davison Owumi, will serve as the committee’s Head of Operations.
Other members are Kunle Soname, ex-international, Daniel Amokachi; Calvin Onwuka, Aliyu Adamu, Danladi Ibrahim, Mohammed Sa’idu, Poubeni Ogun and Awalu Baba Jada.
There will also be a representative of the NFF and the Nigeria Police Force as members, while Olumide Bamiduro will serve as secretary.
