Two people were reportedly killed at Tse Igbur in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to a community source, Joseph Anawah, the incident happened on Sunday around 6pm.
The killing is coming barely four days after suspected herders attacked Gbeji community in Ukum LGA of the state.
According to Anawah, the two young men were riding motorcycle when they were shot dead by people suspected to be herders.
Anawah said, “On Sunday October 23, 2022 at about 6pm, Mr Aondona Saai and Mr Avalumun Ukerchia Adaa of Tse-Igbur in Ukemberagya of Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council ward of Logo LGA were murdered by armed herdsmen at Tse Ikem on the road near Anawah settlement between Chembe and Anyiin road.”
Anawah alleged that the attack and killing occurred near a check point at Arufu town.
Chairman of Logo LGA, Salome Tor, while confirming the killing, lamented that killings had been on going from her domain since August.
“The one on Sunday involved two men and a lady who were on motorcycles when they were ambushed, the incident happened around 5pm not even night.
“They shot them and butchered them. But the lady among them fled into the bush. She was the one that came to inform us,” she said.
The chairman said that combined security men comprise of military, police and agro rangers had been patrolling the area, stating that the suspected herders always hid in the bush.”
When contacted, the State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, said she had yet to receive report of the attack.
