Lagos residents diagnosed with high blood pressure have been advised not to ignore their medications.
Head of Private Banking, Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Limited, Yimika Ogunlaja, gave the advice during a medical outreach organised by the firm for residents of 65 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island.
Ogunlaja said those diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure during the medical outreach were given free medications and counselled on the importance of taking their drugs daily and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
She said, “We are checking their blood pressure, blood sugar level, weight, and eyes.
“The residents were also counselled on a healthy lifestyle while those diagnosed with diabetes and those whose blood pressure were elevated were given drugs.
“Over 100 residents were targeted. We are happy to give back to the community. This is more like a corporate social responsibility for us, which we always do.
“Alpha Morgan is known for CSR. We are here to enrich them so that they can know their health status.”
A General Physician with Leadway Health, a Health Maintenance Organisation, Dr Oyinkansola Taiwo, said a lot of the residents were diagnosed with malaria, and upper respiratory tract infections, while a lot of people came with optical issues.
She said, “Hypertension is a public health problem that we need to spend our time tackling as an organisation.”
