The Nigerian army has deployed troops to commence a coordinated security sweep across three local government areas of Kwara State.
According to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, on Tuesday, the government noted that troops have been deployed to Ifelodun, Edu and Patigi local government areas, in a move to ward off any security breach in any part of the state.
The government, however, urged citizens to report suspicious activities or new faces found in their localities to security agencies in the state.
“There are intelligence reports that point to the danger of attacks. So, the state government has mobilised security agencies and raised alerts to prevent any breaches. But it is also important for everyone to report suspicious activities or new faces in their environment,” a source said.
“At this stage, everyone must work with the government and security agencies to disallow evil elements from disrupting the peace of the state by launching attacks on government installations or neighbourhoods with a human population.”
