Gunmen have attacked a legal practitioner, Sanni Boladale, and abducted a woman who was in a car with him in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The incident happened at the gate of the lawyer’s house at Soyoye, in the Abeokuta-North Local Government area of the state.
Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers suddenly emerged from where they hid and pounced on the lawyer while he was about to enter his premises.
He, however, reportedly struggled with them and ran away, while the woman, identified as Hannah Opeyemi, who was still in the car, was taken away by the hoodlums.
A resident, who identified herself simply as Bukola, said the incident occurred around 7.30pm on Friday.
She, however, said the whereabouts of the woman was unknown as the abductors had yet to reach out to her family.
Soyoye, which has a road linking Ayetoro to Isaga, Ibara-Orile and Sokoto, has become notorious as kidnappers have turned the area to their operational base.
Within the last one year, residents, including the son of a renowned medical doctor, a retired lecturer, a policewoman, a nurse, a medical doctor and many travellers, have been kidnapped and released after ransoms were paid.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
He added that the command had begun moves to rescue the victim and ensure the arrest of the kidnappers.
