Babaita also warned politicians against the use of non-state security outfits, stressing that some of their activities could constitute harm.
Our correspondent reports that this may not be unconnected to the resumed activities of Kalare group, which is gradually fomenting chaos.
While informing all politicians to desist from patronising them, the commissioner said, “to avoid the use of non-state security outfits carrying offensive weapons such as dane guns, swords, dagger, bows, arrows and other dangerous weapons, those bending the grounds rules for a hitch-free rallies should be arrested and prosecuted without delay.”
He revealed that the police had mapped out deliberate efforts geared towards ensuring that all activities before, during and after 2023 General Election were in conformity with the Electoral Act, 2022.
“Complying with the electoral process will lay a foundation for free, fair and credible elections that are not compromised by the relevant critical stakeholders and politicians in the state,” Babaita said.
The commissioner warned that he would not want chaos and brigandage which often came through violence and hate speech.
He added, “The Command is ready to deal decisively with any political party and its stakeholders that cause violence and should as a matter of critical factor, prevail on their supporters to play politics without bitterness and hate speech which often resulted to chaos and brigandage.”
