A group of international environmentalists, Riteonthebeach, will hold its academic festival in Lagos on Monday.
The festival, hosted by Bature Brewery and Awa Wata, will feature a symposium, research, beach clean- up, community engagement and a closing party.
The group, in a statement on Sunday, said the essence of the symposium is to save the wetlands of Lagos State by creating carbon and tourist assets, and a research base.
It also disclosed plans to bring the possibility of the project to government’s attention, as well as its necessity for the current generation.
The statement read in part, “We have experts discussing conservancy tourism and markets traditional exchanges I am in search of someone based in Nigeria who is passionate about DAOs and understands the use. To complete this quartet the point being how we can make this a social project. I would be grateful for any suggestions and/or introductions
“The symposium is in two parts. The first features Tedd-styled presentations by the four speakers of between eight and 12 minutes. The second is a roundtable discussion with an additional four guests who are change-makers in the ecosystem specifically representing Donor Aid Circularity Appropriation of Public Spaces, while policy and local tourism will be moderated by Nadine Audifferen. The symposium will be recorded and it includes a life audience of 70-100 youths.
“A selected group of them will be tasked to prepare a draft paper based on the symposium during the second part. We are working to ensure government policies directly reflect the aspirations of the youths and marginalised communities.”
