The organisation responsible for implementing the strategy, Borno House-To-House For Atiku And Okowa, was launched in Maiduguri, the night of Thursday, December 15.
The director general of the organisation, Mustspha Shehu, said at its launch that it would campaign for the victory of the Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket and all other PDP tickets in the state.
To achieve this feat, he said 3,000 volunteers would be employed across the state, at least 10 for each ward of the state.
Shehu explained further that the 10 volunteers would operate under a coordinator. The ward coordinators would be guided and monitored by a senior coordinator at the local government area level.
He said the list of volunteers would be forwarded to the national secretariat of the party, to be fed into the database of its campaign organisations.
“We have observed that we can only win elections in Borno State through house-to-house campaign,” Shehu stated.
“With this strategy, a volunteer will enter a household, meet the members of the household and directly persuade them to vote Atiku/Okowa as president and vice, Mohammed Jajari as governor of Borno, and all other PDP candidates down to the State Assembly level,” the DG explained.
Shehu warned the volunteers at the occasion to resist every provocation to incite violence during the campaign and the actual elections, alleging, “wherever they (ruling APC) observe that they will lose the election, they will incite violence.”
He said the PDP adopted the house-to-house strategy in order to sanitise politics in Borno State.
