Enyimba’s Samuel Kalu says he is confident he will be fully fit for the start of the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season as he eyes a quick return to action after spending up to a month on the sidelines.
The forward has been out of action since sustaining an injury on national team duties when the Super Eagles built up for the intentional friendly against Costa Rica in November.
He was notably missing in Enyimba’s participation in the Dozy Mmobuosi Preseason Super Cup, but is keen to be in good shape for the start of the league season, having now returned to training.
“It has been difficult for me because I hate injuries,” Kalu remarked.
“I hate sitting out of training and matches but when you’re injured, you cannot help it. I just love to be on the pitch all the time, training or match. Football is the only thing I do, so when I am unable to play, it makes me feel sad.
“I know how difficult it was for me when the team went for the Super Cup in Lagos. I couldn’t travel with the team because of the injury, so I just watched the matches online.
“But I’m happy that I can train now and I am getting better. By the time the season begins, I should be ready.”
