He made this known in Calabar on Wednesday at the meeting of Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security.
According to him, “election is less 60 days. We are at a critical stage of preparation,” adding that candidates of the political parties were advised against engaging in hate speech and violence.
“This is to ensure there is a smooth election in 2023,” he said.
He said the political parties had been asked to send the list of their agents that would be posted to the 3,281 polling units in the state, adding that religious and traditional rulers had been consulted to mobilise registered voters to collect their PVCs.
Oritsemotebi further said training of ad hoc staff would soon begin as the applicants had been shortlisted.
He remarked that there is synergy between the commission and the security agencies ahead of the election, adding that non-sensitive materials for the election had been received.
The REC said BVAS would be used during the election, as well as electronic transfer of results, which he said would eliminate ballot box snatching and vote-buying proxy, adding, “hopefully, the election will be free and fair.”
