The Nigerian Railway Corporation has refuted reports that the Abuja-Kaduna train station had internal network issues connecting to the National Identity Management Commission server.
Speaking at a roundtable with desk/liaison officers of the Nigeria Digital ID4D P Project Ecosystem Implementing Partners in Abuja on Friday, the Director of Database at NIMC, Olufemi Fabunmi, said the reason for the service downtime faced by the NRC was internal network.
The PUNCH had last week reported that passengers at the Abuja-Kaduna train station were stranded due to the downtime of the NIMC server.
Consequently, passengers scheduled for 9:45 am trips could not board the train. The passengers stranded had to travel to Kaduna by road.
Fabunmi explained that the internal network was unable to connect to the active NIMC server due to poor connectivity.
The Director of Rail Services at the Ministry of Transportation, Engr Jimoh Yusuf, told our correspondent in Abuja that the network issues experienced at the train station have always been from the NIMC server.
He said, “I am not aware of any adjustment by NRC to improve the network situation. It has always been the NIMC server that sometimes has issues but always quickly restored.”
