Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in February 23, Presidential election, Peter Obi has said that the senseless bloodletting in the country had taken a worrisome dimension.
Reacting to the murder of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the Yoruba socio cultural organisation, Afenifere, on the Benin-Ore Road by suspected gunmen, Obi said that Nigerians of all spheres were losing their safety cheaply.
Obi, in a statement on Sunday, said he had already called the nonagenarian.
The former Anambra state governor, who prayed for the repose of the soul of all who lost their lives in the senseless killings either from herdsmen or armed robbers, challenged relevant authorities to stem tide.
Obi charged the security agencies “to ensure that they track down the killers of Mrs Olakunrin and other criminals that have made the nation’s highway impassable and a death trap”.
“I wonder how Investors can come to a country whose high way is unsafe with rampant crime and criminalities”, he said while calling on government to rise and take responsibility.
