Okoro, a former director of International Development at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State holds a PhD in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from the University of Benin.
He is a fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Environmental Society, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria and Institute of Management Consultant.
The new polytechnic is expected to provide full and part-time courses and training in different fields of study.
The bill for the creation of the Federal Polytechnic was initiated by the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, an indigene of Orogun and passed into law by the National Assembly.
The deputy senate president had earlier commissioned a power substation which would provide electricity to the polytechnic and the host community.
