The pan-northern socio-political organisation under the aegis of Arewa New Agenda, on Friday, said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, towered head and shoulders above all other candidates.
ANA challenged other presidential candidates to showcase the achievements and disciples they had mentored that would make Nigerians vote for them in the February 25 election.
The convener of ANA, Senator Ahmad Abubakar MoAllahyidi, during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, said Tinubu moved the economic base of Lagos from N600 million to over N50 billion.
He also listed some of the personalities mentored by the former governor of Lagos state and some of his core achievements while in office as governor.
MoAllahyidi said in human capital development, Tinubu remained a mentor to many people in Nigeria irrespective of their tribe, ethnicity or religion.
Part of the statement read, “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu took on the gory sight of Lagos environment on assumption of office that was occasion by pollution from different sectors at that time; he set up the 40-year development plan which has been followed diligently over the years culminating in the on-going transformation of Lagos.
“Tinubu set up the mechanism for revenue generation that has moved Lagos from N600 million economy to over N50 billion and counting.
“He engineered the Inner-city metro line project that is currently moving commuters within the metropolis.
“He floated the free medical policy for children below 18 and adults over 65 years with heavily subsidised drugs for others, combated dreadful diseases, including tuberculosis by setting up clinics devoted to the disease and polio through immunisation of millions of children.”
The group further said Tinubu pioneered the development of modern water transportation and the Bus Rapid Transit.
“The independent power project was a trail blazing endeavour that contributed 270 megawatts to the national grid economic development.
“Internal Revenue Generation is the strongest base for sustainability of any State and as the governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu set up the mechanism for revenue generation that has moved Lagos from a N600 million economy to over N50 billion and counting.”
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on record as a person who sees service as a call to duty; he delegates and trusts persons around him with responsibilities that enables them to grow, strengthen their internal capacities to become assets to the nation,” it added.
