The Office of Education Quality Assurance has reiterated its commitment to raising the bar of quality education in sustaining the overall goal of education policy in Lagos State.
The Director-General of OEQA, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, stated this during the closing ceremony of a two-day capacity-building workshop for school evaluators.
She emphasised the importance of school evaluators being equipped with international best practices for them to perform their roles efficiently and effectively and meet the minimum standards for the evaluation of schools in the state.
Responding to questions from newsmen, Seriki-Ayeni said, “The workshop was organised to equip participants with core knowledge of assuring the quality or standard of education, the cost, and minimum requirements, identifying the existing gap.”
On his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Parastatals Monitoring, Mr Afolabi Ayantayo, encouraged the participants to know they were handling a critical assignment for the state.
He said, “Education is the most essential infrastructure in the world. What you are doing is the most essential function of the state government.”
He noted that without knowledge, nothing good could be achieved, hence developed countries constantly overhaul their educational policies.
