It was learnt Idako was shot in the head in his Onueke village, in the Ezza South Council, of the state at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
A family relative who spoke in tears and pleaded anonymity said in a telephone interview that the assailants entered the village and dragged out the victim while asleep before shooting him in the head.
“My brother the story is very traumatic. It was a family member that alerted me that some unknown armed persons came to their house just before midnight, broke in and dragged him out before shooting him on the head.
“We wanted to rush him to the hospital but he died in the village. We have been in a mourning mood since last night,” he confirmed.
An APGA supporter in the area, who pleaded anonymity for fear of being traced said Idoko was busy making arrangements for a rescheduled visit to the area by the APGA governorship candidate, Prof Benard Odoh, before his life was cut shot by men of the underworld.
He described the deceased as a very industrious young man who gave his all in service to the party and humanity.
The PUNCH reports that Odoh’s convoy was attacked penultimate week within the same area, where his driver and a police inspector were assassinated and several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Also, another supporter of APGA in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state, Oscar Elom, was murdered in a similar manner when he was dragged out of his shop at Ngbo and shot in the head.
Efforts to reach the Ebonyi State Police Command for comment on this matter failed.
Calls made to the line of the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Chris Anyanwu, were not answered. He was equally yet to respond to messages sent to his mobile as of the time of filing this report.
