Ahead of tomorrow’s presidential election, People’s Redemption Party has debunked rumour that it had collapsed its structure in support of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
The Ogun State chairman of the party, Samson Okusanya, while briefing newsmen in Abeokuta, clarified that the party was still in the race to win, adding that its presidential candidate remained Kolawale Abiola.
Okusanya, who said it became important to debunk the rumour owing to the delicate nature of the matter, stressed that, “The news of allegiance to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and or any other candidate is false. It’s in abhorrence to the values and principles of our party and investigations are on going to establish the complicity of the quoted officials, with view for punitive actions.”
According to him, the reputation, integrity and hard work of the party, over the years was being threatened by the lack of indiscretion of some people.
He added, “For the first time since 1983, the PRP is participating in a presidential election and the visibility of the party across various levels is encouraging, as it is threatening to the antagonists of the common people, who have continued to seize and remained in power for self-enrichment and oppression of the masses.
“With a promise to bring liberation to the people of Nigeria, the PRP has fielded governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.
“Today, as we speak, the grand finale of the presidential rally is taking place in Kano, as the party finalises its campaign, in line with INEC guidelines. The presidential candidate of the party, Mr Abdulateef Kolawale Abiola, is still very much in the race and is positioned to coast to victory. A reality that unsettles the other actors from other parties.”
