The Ondo monarch noted that giving back to school would complement the efforts of the government in the development of the education sector in the country.
Oba Kiladejo stated this while speaking at the inauguration of the physics and biology laboratory complex and the laboratory walkway at Ondo Anglican Grammar School, Ondo. The project was donated to the school by the members of the 1967-1971 set of the school.
The monarch, who is a member of the set, commended his colleagues for the gesture saying prior to the intervention, the state of infrastructural facilities of the school was deplorable, hence the efforts of the old students association of the school.
He said, “I want to thank all the old students for what they have done for the school. We want to encourage others to give back to their schools and help indigent students.
“We should also encourage the young ones to continue wherever we stop. It is by the grace of God that we are able to do this for our school.”
He commended Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for his commitment to standardising education and all his efforts to bring development to the education sector in the state.
In his remark, the state Commissioner For Education Science and Technology, Femi Agagu, said the present administration in the state focused on education advancement through student sponsorship, regular promotion of teachers, and construction and renovation of infrastructure among others.
Represented by the Director Inspectorate/Quality Assurance Department, Olabamiji Ogundele, the commissioner commended the old students for remembering their alma mater, tasking the school management to make good use of the laboratories
In his remarks, the President of Ondo Grammar School Old Students Association, Johnson Akinsiku urged other sets of old students to assist the school.
“We want other sets (old students) to find a project to do for the school no matter how small. We were are doing here is not limited to out set alone,” Akinsiku stated
