The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated a 30-bed maternity centre and a couple clinic at the Orile Agege General Hospital to further enhance antenatal care and child delivery in the state.
Speaking during the inauguration on Monday, Mrs Sanwo-Olu said the facilities were in line with the THEMES agenda of the current government to provide affordable and quality health care for all in the state.
“This is another effort put in place by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government to further raise the standard of services rendered in all government-owned hospitals in Lagos.
“I was also in Orile Agege last week to inaugurate a primary health care centre to increase the accessibility of health services for the people.
“Mr Governor will do more to further uplift health care in the state if re-elected to his position,” she said.
Sanwo-Olu commended the management and staff of the hospital for rendering selfless service.
The Medical Director of OAGH, Dr Sola Pitan, said the hospital had been upgraded with modern facilities, more beds and the obstetrics high-dependency unit.
Pitan said the couple clinic was launched to educate pregnant women and their husbands on some of the challenges of pregnancy and what they needed to know during delivery.
“This development will enable us to attend to more pregnant women in Orile Agege for a seamless process during and after their delivery.
“The couple clinic will help to address some of the psychological challenges that come with pregnancy and how their spouses can be of help during the period,” he said.
