In a statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday signed by the state Chairman and Publicity Secretary of the party, Adesina Afolabi and Ogundimu Aishat, respectively, the party distanced itself from the endorsement of the governor purportedly by the Intra-Party Advisory Council.
“Our attention has been drawn to a post believed to be a press release emanating from IPAC in Ogun State, wherein some persons endorsed the governor for re-election.
“We want to state unequivocally that the AAC is not part of such a charade, as a separate party or as a member of IPAC. Our party is distinct in ideology and principles and will not endorse a governor (who in our view) does not represent a pro-people agenda,” the statement said.
In the post by a Facebook user sighted by our correspondent, it was stated that Abiodun had a meeting where a vote of confidence was passed in his administration and a second term bid purportedly by IPAC in the state, where some political party representatives were also present.
Governor Abiodun is seeking reelection in the state under the All Progressives Congress come March 11, 2023.
