The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has adopted the House of Assembly candidate of the Labour Party in Cross River State, Brian Odey.
Brian is running for Yala 1 State Constituency seat after the Supreme Court sacked the candidate of the APC for that constituency, Regina Anyogo.
The state Chairman of APC, Alphonsus Eba, who made this known at a news conference in Calabar on Monday, said, “we and LP share a common belief.”
Responding, Brian Odey said he was happy that a national party like APC was adopting him as its candidate, adding that Yala 1 will be delivered to APC during the governorship and House of Assembly elections on March 11.
Earlier, Eba had decried the alleged militarisation of the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 25 and blamed non-state actors for alleged electoral malpractice.
He called on the president and the president-elect to show interest in what is happening in Cross River State, adding “We will not tolerate the militarisation of polling units in the next election.”
He charged all political appointees to return to their polling units and ensure the victory of APC in the governorship and state Assembly elections and threatened to sack all the appointees within 48 hours if they failed to deliver their polling units.
He said the mandate of the APC governorship candidate, Senator Bassey Otu, was intact.
