A security committee set up by the Zamfara state government to investigate the criminal involvement of highly placed persons especially the traditional leaders has revealed that over 250 kidnapped victims have been rescued from the camps of the armed bandits and notorious kidnappers in the state.
Addressing newsmen at the chamber of the Government House in Gusau, the State capital, chairman of the committee, the former Inspector-General of police, Mr. Mohammed Dahiru, said that the committee has rescued over two hundred and fifty persons kidnapped by bandit and notorious kidnappers in the state.
Fielding questions from journalists in Gusau, the former police boss maintained that the security situation in the state was becoming very perfect following the peace and reconciliation process initiated by the state government.
He appealed to the people of the state to embrace peace as the only option for peaceful coexistence in the state which he said can open doors for more productive opportunities in the state.
On whether the state government would still absorb the repentants bandits into the thousands of repentant bandits whom the governor has promised to employ into the civil service of the state, the chairman noted that it is only the state government that would decide on the issue and not the committee.
