The group known as Expanded Igyorov Ward Executives, who are kinsmen of the suspended chairman, expressed their support for the chairman while going further to pass a confidence vote on the embattled chairman of the party
Recall that it was reported how Ayu’s suspension was announced by the ward executives of the party at Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday, by the Ward Secretary, Mr Vangeryina Dooyum, on behalf of Kashi Philip, the Ward Chairman, over alleged anti-party activities.
It was also reported that a High Court in Makurdi, Benue State, issued an interim injunction restraining Dr Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The presiding judge, Justice W.I. Kpochi, gave the interim order on Monday in suit No. MHC/85/2023 filed at the court by Terhide Utaan with Ayu and the PDP as defendants.
The case was adjourned until April 17 for further hearing.
The kinsmen categorically disclaimed and disassociated themselves from the purported letter of vote of no confidence and suspension of Senator Ayu as a member of PDP the lga dated the 24 March.
According to one of the members of the expanded Igyorov ward executives who read the text of the press conference, Stephen Shimahile, said “Sequel to the letter to our office dated 27th March, 2023 with the above caption, which same was signed by 16 members of Executive Committee from Igyorov Council ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. The above stated letter was duly served in our office and we stand with them.
“The Executive Committee of P.D.P Gboko Local Government Chapter hereby pledge our total support for his pragmatic leadership style by taking our party forward.
The public is hereby notified to disregard the purported suspension,” he stated.
