The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has begun his official annual leave.
A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Richard Olatunde, on Monday, said the leave would last for 15 working days.
The statement disclosed that the governor had written a letter to the state House of Assembly in that regard.
The statement read, “In a letter transmitted to the state House of Assembly and addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, Governor Akeredolu said the leave will commence from Monday, 3rd, to Tuesday, 25th April, 2023, both days inclusive.
“While Governor Akeredolu is away on vacation, the Deputy Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will perform the functions of the office of the Governor. The governor will resume for duties on Wednesday, 26th April, 2023.”
Meanwhile, residents of Uso Community in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State have appealed to the state government to repair or reconstruct the Uso-Ise Ekiti Road to improve the economy of the area.
The road was said to have been abandoned for the past 44 years.
Speaking on behalf of members of the community, on Monday, a community leader, Mr Akintola Adeoye, explained that if the road was constructed it would ease the movement of farm produce to the markets and improve the economic life of the people of the community.
According to him, the residents of the agrarian community had been experiencing difficulty regarding their vehicular movements.
He said, “Our roads have also become impassable as vehicle owners in our community now park their cars at the entrance of the community exposing them to thieves and vandals. This is why we are begging the government to do something on the matter.
“We are appealing to the state government to come to the aid of our community to make life bearable for the residents. ”
According to Adeoye, the link road is the shortest route for travellers going to the northern part of Nigeria from Akure instead of passing through Akoko land.
“The road will open up the economic interaction between Ondo state and Ekiti state from this axis,” he said.
