The lady was found dead in her room with a series of knife cuts on her neck and other parts of her body.
After the incident, the police arrested one Akeem Kabiru, a boyfriend of the deceased after he was suspected to be allegedly involved in the murder of the lady.
But the family claimed that the police had yet to arrest other accomplices of the suspected murderer of their daughter.
The family spokesman, Kehinde Sobola, while speaking with our correspondent in Abeokuta, said three accomplices in the murder of the young lady had been released by police.
Sobola who is a twin brother to the deceased’s father said he was part of the team that discovered the corpse of the girl in her room.
He claimed that the 26-year-old boyfriend, Akeem Kabiru, who has been held by police and remanded in a correctional centre had other accomplices who were involved in the murder case
He said the knife and the pillow used to kill the lady were seen in the room with the corpse.
Sobola said Kabirat’s friends identified as Fola and Akeem were suspected in the killing and were asked to write a statement by the police over the death of the lady.
He said the family was surprised that Fola, who had been arrested before, was later released.
He also complained that a herbalist and a cleric to whom the prime suspect reportedly sent the picture of the deceased had not been arrested.
Sobola said that he was at the police station when the prime suspect told the police that he had sent the deceased’s picture to an Alfa (Islamic cleric) and a herbalist.
“We want the government to intervene and ensure that justice is served and necessary investigations are done. Those responsible for Kabirat’s death be brought to justice.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, allayed the fear of the family.
He said the matter had been taken over by the homicide section and that the suspect had been remanded in a correctional centre.
The PPRO, however, cautioned the family against accusing innocent persons in the murder case.
He said, “We have not released any suspect. The suspect had been in the correctional centre. The matter is a murder case.
“The case is a serious one. We cannot just arrest anyone, because it will take a long time for an innocent person to prove himself.”
