The new Chancellor spoke in his palace at Emohua during a visit by a delegation from LAUTECH, led by the Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman of the University Governing Council, Professor Ayodeji Omole.
Awuse expressed his appreciation to the Visitor to the institution and Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and described the appointment as one that would never be taken for granted.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Public and Alumni Relations, Mr Olelekan Fadeyi, and made available to The PUNCH.
The Royal Majesty who extolled the leadership of the Institution for finding time to felicitate him by physically coming to brief him said his people and the entire Rivers people were happy about the appointment for which they would continue to be grateful.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the team, Professor Omole thanked the Royal Majesty for accepting to join the institution as the Chancellor and prayed that God would grant him the wherewithal to lead the university to the desired destination.
He also briefed the Royal Majesty on the forthcoming convocation ceremonies during which the Chancellor’s investiture would feature on Friday, April 28.
Other dignitaries at the meeting include the Chief of Staff to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Chukwuemeka Woke and the Acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port-Harcourt, Professor Okey Onuchukwu.
The LAUTECH team comprised the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council and Senate, Dr Kayode Ogunleye; the Bursar, Mr Abayomi Okediji; the Deputy Registrar (Council Affairs and Legal Matters), Adebayo Adeyi as well as the Deputy Registrar (Public and Alumni Relations), Olalekan Fadeyi.
