Gombe State Police Command on Thursday paraded a suspected kidnapper, one 30-year-old Adamu Baje.
Baje was alleged to have kidnapped two persons, identified as Fatsuma Buba and Manu Adamu, residents of Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Parading the suspect, Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, who was represented by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, said upon receipt of the distress call, his men collaborated with hunters to rescue the two victims unhurt.
He added that no fewer than 40 animals were recovered from the hideout, as well as one Tecno mobile phone.
Etim said, “Alhaji Adamu Bello of Labe Village of Nafada LGA went to the Division and made a formal complaint, that some unknown persons armed with guns and cutlasses stormed his residence at Papa Village, attacked his relatives inflicting various degrees of injury on them and kidnapped Fatsuma Buba and Manu Adamu.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, the police operatives activated its intelligence platform and traced the hideouts of the suspected kidnappers. Police tactical team in collaboration with hunters raided the kidnapper’s den where they successfully arrested Baje and rescued the two victims unhurt.”
Etim disclosed that his men took victims to the hospital for medical attention.
He added that items obtained at the hideout include “seven cows, four donkeys, 19 sheep, 10 goats, one Tecno handset, chain and padlock.”
The commissioner also paraded eight other suspects for varying crimes ranging from criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, culpable homicide and possession of illegal firearms.
Also paraded were 27-year-old Joshua Dogo, and 22-year-old Muazu Abdullahi, Etim said through the Command Police tactical teams on patrol responded to a distress call.
“They arrested two suspects Dogo and Abdullahi, both of Gombe town. They criminally conspired among themselves and attacked one Abubakar Usman 18yrs old of Garin Barde via Kwami LGA with a pistol and a knife and robbed him of his Bajaj Motorcycle.
“The tactical team attached to Tumfure Division arrested the two suspects, and recovered the following exhibits; a pistol, a knife and One motorcycle. Case transferred to SCID for discrete investigation and case will soon be charged to court,” he added.
Also, Salisu Ahmed Yahaya, 26, and Murtala Mohammed, Adamu Dodo, Abba Wuro, and Adamu Harka, all at large, were said to have conspired among themselves armed with cutlasses and knives to attack one Abdullahi Mohammed in his shop located at the market.
“Mohammed was stabbed several times in his neck and hand with intent to kill him and, thereafter, robbed of his money, the sum of N200,000.
“An investigation is ongoing and the case will soon be charged to court,” Etim added.
