The defendant is standing trial on a count charge of stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court, “The defendant stole one black Bajaj boxer motorcycle valued at N390,000 belonging to one Abiodun Bamidele.
“The defendant committed the offence on April 14 at about 2 pm at Odo-Oro Ekiti. The offence contravened Section 320(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021,” he said.
The police prosecutor, however, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, who did not have legal representation, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, who granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, adjourned the case till May 18 for a hearing.
