The Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr Niyi Adebayo, who is the Chairman of the Project Assessment Committee set up by Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the purpose, reiterated his commitment to ensuring that “every kobo of the tax payers’ money released for projects is well utilised and properly accounted for”.
He said that the move followed “the release of funds to the councils for implementation of projects that have a direct impact on the lives of the people”.
Adebayo said that the committee, which last week began the tours of the councils and LCDAs for the verification exercise, had visited councils including Efon, Ekiti South-West, Ijero, Moba, Oye and Ikole.
The chairman said, “The team was set up by Mr Governor with the mandate to go round the local government areas and verify all the projects for which the councils have received funding. The assessment is also to ensure that the councils’ programmes and projects align with the state Development Plan.
“The Assessment Team will verify the number and location of all the projects, level of completion as well as the quality of work done and present a comprehensive report to the governor for further action,” Adebayo said.
