The State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Gombe State, on Monday, reaffirmed the expulsion of former Governor Danjuma Goje,and two others from the party.
The two others are the senator representing Gombe South, Bulus Amos; and the lawmaker representing Yalmatu Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Our correspondent reports that their various wards and local government area chairmen had in separate briefings announced their expulsion from the APC for alleged anti-party activities.
The party leadership claimed that the three party chieftains failed to appear before the panels set up to investigate the allegations against them.
On May 2, the Chairman of the APC in Bambam ward, Muhammad Kaka, said the ward executives had no option but to expel Amos.
Kaka said,“We held elections in our ward during the just concluded general elections and we have Amos from our ward who didn’t come out to partake in our political activities.”
On April 18, the ward Chairman of Kashere, Abdullahi Tanimu, announced the expulsion of Goje, citing “open support for opposition party candidates by hosting the New Nigeria People’s Party’s governorship candidate and the Peoples Democratic Party Akko Federal House of Representatives candidate at his residence and offering support against the interest of his party, the APC, among many other instances; making unguarded utterances and pronouncements capable of undermining the APC administration in Gombe State.”
According to a press statement signed by state APC Chairman, Nitte Amangal, General Secretary, Sadiq Abubakar, and read by the Publicity Secretary, Moses Kyari, the party said it was in agreement with the various wards.
The statement partly read, “That the decision of Kashere ward of Akko Local Government to expel Danjuma Goje is in line with the provisions of our party’s constitution and they have followed due process; therefore, we endorse and reaffirm the expulsion.
“The State Executive Committee has endorsed the decision of Bambam ward of Balanga Local Government for the expulsion of Senator Bulus K. Amos and has also endorsed the decision of Lubo/Difa/Kinafa ward of Yamaltu Deba Local Government to expel Yunusa Abubakar.”
While passing vote of confidence in Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, the Gombe APC leadership urged the both the zonal and national levels of the party to affirm the expulsion of the three lawmakers.
“The State Executive Committee passes a vote of confidence in the leader of the party in the state, Alhaji Muhammadu Yahaya, the Governor of Gombe.”
