AbdulRazaq, in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, denied a media report quoting the governors of the six North-Central geopolitical zone as rejecting the position of the party leadership.
The six states in the zone included Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue Plateau and Nasarawa states and the Federal Capital Territory.
A newspaper report, (not The PUNCH) had published that the APC governors in the North-Central zone had rejected the zoning formula adopted by the National Working Committee of the party for the 10th National Assembly.
AbdulRazaq, according to the statement said the governors, being party leaders from the region, cannot adopt a confrontational posture against the party’s position but are instead holding strategic meetings with different stakeholders to secure a better deal for the North Central.
“Media reports that we reject the party’s position are therefore a stretch of our approach. They are not factual. We have our channels of communication, and that is what we are exploring.
“We are party people and will not make any public statement or do anything that will rubbish its leadership or cause avoidable tension in the polity. That is not our way”, AbdulRazaq said.
