Nigerian actress, singer, philanthropist and former model, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has received special recognition at the first ‘Blacks in Cinema’ presentation in the City of Los Angeles, USA for her dedication to her craft
As one of the pioneers of the video film era of Nigerian cinema, becoming the most watched actress in Africa, Omotola was on Wednesday honour for her commitment to showcasing the rich tapestry of Black creative works, presentation of art, film, TV, live performances and many accomplishments.
The ‘Blacks in Cinema’ presentation held at the Los Angeles City Council Chambers Tuesday, as part of the opening of the highly-covered Pan African Film and Arts Festival (PAFF) which will hold in Los Angeles, USA this February.
Los Angeles City Council President, Herb Wesson kicked off the Black History Month by honouring the actors and filmmakers who paved the way for people all walks of life to be represented in the film.
With the help of some legendary African-American actors and filmmakers, the day was officially proclaimed #BlacksInCinema in Los Angeles.
Omotola has been invited to Los Angeles by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to be part of their program to promote this year’s Oscar Celebration and their on-going initiative to forge ties with the Nigerian and Worldwide film industries.
