Striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, will be out to join the elite list players at Nottingham Forest to have scored in three consecutive games when the Tricky Trees host Arsenal at the City Ground in Saturday’s Premier League game, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Nigerian forward has enjoyed a rich vein of form since he returned from a groin injury that kept him out of action for two months – missing nine games in the process.
The 25-year-old scored twice in two consecutive games against Southampton and Chelsea to take his goals tally to nine for Nottingham Forest this season and should he score against the Gunners on Saturday (today), he will become the third player in the club’s history to score in three straight Premier League games after Danilo and Dougie Freedman.
While Danilo achieved his feat this season, Freedman scored in three consecutive games during the 1999 season.
Awoniyi who alongside Brennan Johnson are both Forest’s joint top scorers with eight goals will also look to score his 10th goal of the season for Steve Cooper’s side in the encounter.
Forest who are fighting for survival in the Premier League is placed 16th with 34 points, three points above the relegation zone with two matches to play will be banking on the Nigerian to end their winless run of four defeats against Mikel Areta’s men.
The Gunners have also outscored Forest 10-1 during their winning streak.
