The Gombe State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 26 drug suspects and confiscated 2.654kg of drugs in its ongoing mop-up operation.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the drugs include 2.570kg of cannabis sativa and 84 grams of psychotropic substances.
The command’s Public Affairs Officer, Henry Ihebuzor, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday.
Ihebuzor said the feat was in line with preparation for the May 29 inauguration of the new administration, adding that it was in response to a directive by the agency’s Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.).
He said the suspects were arrested in various drug joints and black spots across the state.
The statement partly read, “A total of 26 drug suspects have been arrested and 2.570kg of cannabis sativa and 84gms of psychotropic substances seized, bringing the total seizure to 2.654kg in the ongoing mop-up operation following the preparation for the May 29 inauguration of the new administration.”
While assuring residents of the state that the exercise would be sustained after the handover, the statement added, “The commander warns drug dealers and traffickers in the state to desist from the act or face the wrath of the law as our searchlight is all over the state to rid it of illicit drug activities.
“There will be no hiding place for drug dealers and traffickers in the state.
“The raids and dislodgement are across the state at different locations, particularly at drug joints and black spots.”
