Sages & Scribe, a leading consulting firm, would be organising a two-day summit on Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), aimed at providing innovative solutions to boost workforce efficiency and performance.
In a statement, the firm stated that the event would hold on August 2-3, 2023, in Lagos.
It noted that the event, which had the theme ‘Employee Wellness for Productivity and Performance’, was designed to address employee and individual psychosocial health beyond medical services.
“The EAP Summit aims to explore workplace wellness, employee well-being, organisational performance, sustainability, valuable workplace benefits, psychosocial risk assessment, and promote a “Great Place to Work” and Corporate Social Responsibility in Nigeria,” the statement read in part.
The Managing Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Sages & Scribes Consultants, Venerable Adelowo Adesina, said, “Statistics have also shown that in terms of human and industrial productivity and performance, our nation Nigeria is among the lowest ranking in the pecking order.
“It is undeniable that Nigerian workers are stressed, harassed, traumatised, and burnt out. Just imagine what we all went through during the currency exchange exercise. Think of the emotional and psychological torture the average worker must have experienced. That should tell us as a nation that we need to begin to promote the health and wellness of our employees.”
Speaking further on the upcoming EAP Summit, Adesina explained that 10 general knowledge (interest) papers would be delivered.
He mentioned there would also be professionally specialised workshops, which include stress management and work-life harmony, addictions, substance abuse workshops, and trauma management, among others.
“The EAP Summit is endorsed by the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, National Productivity Centre, and Employee Assistance Professionals Association of South Africa, Employee Assistance Programme, Africa, Ghana,” the statement added.
