A wine company, Vines by Rosa, recently held a six-day wine tasting event across different locations in Nigeria, and it was indeed an awesome experience for those who attended.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Vines by Rosa, Chinedu Rosa, the event sought to blend European wines and African-inspired cuisine.
In collaboration with Fouad and Chadi Estephan of Sliquors Wines and Spirits, the African food and wine tasting dinner experience previously held in Bordeaux, France, was extended to Nigeria.
The venues where the event took place include Black Pepper Steak House, Ofada Boy Restaurant, Gaby Lagos Restaurant, Sally Wines and Spirits (all in Lagos), and Waymart Stores in Abuja.
The event came to a climax at the Fusion Sushi and Grill Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos, in partnership with the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The welcome speech was delivered by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Emmanuelle Blatmann.
Speaking on the objectives of the event, Rosa said, “These remarkable events served as a platform to introduce the African wine community to meticulously selected spirits, and enlighten them about the incredible harmony between European wines and our eclectic array of Mediterranean and African-influenced dishes.
“Attendees were treated to an elevated gastronomic journey, combining the art of fine dining with an immersive masterclass on selecting and savouring the finest liquor available on the market. Guests had the privilege of exploring some of the finest wines from family-owned wineries in France, and uncovering the intricate layers of flavours present in Nigerian cuisine.
“These events will be held annually in Nigeria and France, with various interested partners in the future to continue the wine pairing culture.”
Other esteemed guests include the Consul General of France, Laurence Montmayron; as well as actors such as Ireti Doyle and Juliet Ibrahim.
