The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria has congratulated Eze Anaba on his election as President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Anaba, who is the Editor of Vanguard Newspapers, was on Friday elected President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors for a tenure of two years.
NPAN, in a letter by its President, Kabiru Yusuf, expressed confidence in the NGE President’s ability to tackle the challenges faced by journalism, and noted that NPAN looked forward to working with Anaba to ‘‘raise the bar of the profession with emphasis on professionalism and ethical standards.’’
The letter read partly, “I write to congratulate you on your election as the President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
“The votes garnered by you in the hotly contested election, underscored the implicit confidence your colleagues had in your capacity to provide necessary leadership and direction at this critical moment, for the esteemed profession of journalism, and journalists in the country.
“Your election came at a time the country is looking up to members of the Fourth Estate of the realm, to garvanise it in its quest for rapid socio-economic advancement and the realisation of an egalitarian society.’’
