In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary of the FCT, Anthony Ogunleye, the Director explained that the meeting will be attended by Police Commissioners of member states, heads of security agencies, Directors of security, and the Commandant of the NSCDC.
The statement read, “The FCT Administration is hosting the meeting for the Technical Committee, which comprises the heads of the security agencies, the members of the States’ Commissioners of Police, the Director of Security and the Commandant of the NSCDC.
“There is the military component too; the Army Headquarters Garrison and the Defence Headquarters are part of the meeting. They will discuss and agree on modalities and approach to the clearance exercise.”
Gwary further explained that security agencies in the FCT had been directed to take appropriate measures to curtail the issue of cattle herding in Abuja, as well as activities of scavengers, otherwise known as “Baban Bola”.
Meanwhile, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, disclosed that adequate security measures had been taken to ensure hitch-free Eid-El-Kabir celebrations in the FCT.
He urged residents to go about their businesses without fear of a breakdown of law and order, adding that “The message I have for residents of the FCT is we have given them the assurance, they are safe and secure. They should move about their lawful businesses. Those who expect to go to praying ground should go and have their worship. We are there to support them and to secure them, there will be no problem.”
The meeting was chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola, and attended by heads of military and paramilitary formations in the FCT, religious and traditional leaders, as well as relevant officers of the FCTA.
