According to Napoli Magazine, the negotiation for the extension of Victor Osimhen’s contract has been personally handled by the club President Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Osimhen has emerged as a prime target for many European clubs this summer following his impressive display for the Serie A champions last season.
The Super Eagles striker was the star man for Napoli as they claimed their first league title in 33 year while also emerging as the league top scorer with 26 goals.
The 24-year-old was also named Serie A best striker for the 2022/23 Italian League season, beating off competition from Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Rafael Leao of AC Milan to land the award.
Osimhen has three years left in his contract at the Stadio Armando Maradona but De Laurentiis is willing to hand the Nigerian an extended contract with improved offers to ward off interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich, who have all been touted as potential destinations.
Napoli Magazine wrote that De Laurentiis was directly dealing with the striker’s agent to have the deal sorted out.
“The negotiation for Osimhen, on the other hand, is handled by De Laurentiis himself: he is the one who talks to Osi’s manager, Roberto Calenda; and it is only he who will have to take care of a particularly delicate story due to the contours and proportions between the evaluation and the renewal proposal (until 2027, the contract will expire in 2025). Equation, evidently, not yet resolved,” the website wrote.
Osimhen is currently in Lagos, Nigeria as he enjoys his break before returning to Italy for the start of preseason.
