Recall that unidentified gunmen assaulted the vehicle of the senior pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide on the Benin-Auchi Road in Edo State in October 2022, killing six people, including three police officers.
During a news conference in Abuja, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police spokesman, said that Isah was apprehended by the Intelligence Rapid Team following a comprehensive investigation.
Adejobi also disclosed that the suspect who admitted to his role in the attack on Apostle Suleman had five AK-47 weapons, two K2 assault rifles, and 180 live ammo.
The Police spokesperson said;
“Following an intensive investigation into the fatal attack on the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman, the senior pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Auchi, on October 21, 2022, along with Benin police personnel, who were gruesomely murdered, the operatives of FIB-IRT on Auchi road comprising six people, including three of the assailants, apprehended one Yusuf Ismael Isah ‘m’, a native of Okene, Kogi State and a plumber, at Agbaraoluwa Phase 2 Ijoka, Akure, Ondo State and recovered five Ak47 Rifles, two K2 Assault rifles, 180 live ammunition and 4 suspected IEDs were found in his apartment.”
When questioned about the circumstances of the attack on Apostle Suleman’s convoy, the suspect admitted that he was simply a part of the operation and understood very little about it.
He went on to say that he was the first to start fire on the clergyman’s convoy, and that the gun he used was already held by the gang when he joined.
